On January 30, the Noôdome club space hosted a private screening of the documentary film “The Architect: The Story of Alexei German and His Films,” organized by Russia’s first online festival Patriki Film Festival.

The film was presented by the author of the idea, Alexey German Jr., the author of the visual solutions, Elena Okopnaya, and the producer, co-founder of the Patriki Film Festival, Alexey Bokov. The discussion was moderated by film journalist, curator of the Patriki Film Festival “Producer's Challenge” program, within which the screening was held, Susanna Alperina.
The film, an immersion into the world of the outstanding director, uses previously unpublished footage from the filming of the film “It’s Hard to Be a God”, providing an opportunity to observe the process of Alexei German’s work from the inside.

Alexey Bokov: “The fate of this film is extremely tender, the audience loves the work. We have been successfully running a limited release for 1.5 months in 29 cinemas in Russia and are organizing special screenings.”

Alexey German Jr.: “We collected valuable materials - rare footage, unincluded takes. I remember how hard it was for my dad to see the film “It’s Hard to Be a God.” It's not just an intimate story, it's a tribute to the people who, in my opinion, sacrificed their lives to make this film."

Elena Okopnaya: “I had the good fortune to touch the speeches, conversations, extraordinary thoughts that came from that time. They still live in me. This painting seems to be talking to you in a whisper.”

Film expert and historian Naum Kleiman, one of the best Russian cameramen Yuri Klimenko, writer and biographer of the Strugatsky brothers, on whose story the film was based, Ant Skalandis, actors Leonid Yarmolnik and Natalya Moteva, costume designer Ekaterina Shapkaits, Alexey help to understand the director’s creative method in the film. Kudrin and film producer Rushan Nasibulin.
