From May 16, films selected in the main competition of the international festival of contemporary documentary films “OZA”, as well as films from the out-of-competition program and the special program “Women of Art. Storyboard." Offline screenings at the Voznesensky Center and the Illusion cinema will take place from May 23 to 26.

The festival of contemporary documentary films "OZA" is being held for the first time in 2024 and is inspired by the personality of Zoya Boguslavskaya - writer, playwright, prose writer, wife and muse of the poet Andrei Voznesensky.
The chairman of the international jury of the festival this year will be film director and screenwriter Irakli Kvirikadze, besides him: film critic and film journalist Ksenia Rozhdestvenskaya, wife and muse of Italian director Tonino Guerra - Laura Guerra.

This is how Irakli Kvirikadze comments on the festival program: “Some of the films attracted my attention. It feels like there will be a big competition. In my opinion, the level is very good, bravo to the compilers of the program!”

The OZA Film Festival consists of several parts: online screenings of competitive films from May 16 to 26 and offline screenings that will take place from May 23 to 26 at the Illusion cinema and the Voznesensky Center, as well as film excursions, visits to exhibitions and other events. The name of the festival is taken from Voznesensky’s poem of the same name, dedicated to his wife in 1964.

“The real and best documentary films tell about reality, about the viewer, about time, about the memory of a family and country, about the same as poetry: that is, almost everything, and even more. There are a lot of real films in the competition, the ones with light. Like Voznesensky: “outside the windows there is a smell of the Middle Ages. That’s why I make stained glass,” says film critic Ksenia Rozhdestvenskaya, a member of the festival jury.

Competition program

“The films selected for the festival struck me with their humanity and attention to our daily problems. The most important thing is the transmission of past wisdom to future generations. In all films, even sad ones, love and hope reign,” says Laura Guerra, a film historian and member of the festival jury, about the program.

As part of the festival's competitive program, audiences will be presented with international films, including the Argentine film "Undefined Things" (Argentina, 81 min.) directed by Maria Aparicio, "Song of the Poppies" (O Canto das Amapolas, Brazil-Germany, 104 min. .) Hend Bakr), film “The Owl, the Garden and the Writer” (An Owl , a Garden and the Writer, Iran-France-Switzerland, 83 min.) directed by Sarah Dolatabadi and a number of Russian films: Sergei Chetverukhin’s film “The Storyteller” and “Circus” by Yana Reinson.
